Pope Leo XIV, O.S.A. (birth name: Robert Francis Prevost, born September 14, 1955) is the supreme leader of the Catholic Church and the Sovereign of Vatican City. He was elected Pope on May 8, 2025, following the death of Pope Francis. He is the first Pope from the United States and from North America as a whole. As a member of the Order of St. Augustine (O.S.A.), he previously served in senior roles within the order and in the central offices of the Church, including as Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.
